Drop products make it easy to manage your entire water treatment system. One of my favorites is the drop home protection valve. I have Honeywell Total Connect and we bridged it into this.

In addition, they have recently integrated with Home Assistant and now Universal Devices EISY (pronounced EASY). I have other company sensors around the house and the EISY shuts off my water if those are triggered.

Another feature is leak detection. I already had it tell me a toilet had a slow leak.

Thank you DROP!!

The DROP Home Protection Valve is the most fully featured smart valve that I've found on the market. The latest update to the HUB has enabled MQTT support for device information and local control. The protection valve pressure sensor has assisted with identifying PRV irregularities. I regularly use temperatures values, flow rate, and daily usage in automations. Despite further nuances, I highly recommend DROP products over current competitor products.

Install was easy; however, a plumber replaced the home protect valve included plastic spring backflow valve with a brass one. The included plastic backflow had a high pitched whine when water was used at pressures above 55 PSI in my system.

The valve motor is large. It may fit entirely in a 2x6 wall cavity, but I will need to fur my wall out a bit more to accommodate it. Pay attention to all dimensions so opening the box doesn't lead to sizing surprises.

The flow meter is not sensitive enough (or the software doesn't show) to notice when my whole home humidifier is on. Pressure drops accordingly. This causes false negatives with the slow leak detection since flow isn't detected, which returns the valve to service, but pressure continues to drop beyond the threshold.

The slow leak action will try again later if water is in-use. This is generally great, though I wish I could set a specific time window to attempt retries. Some days, it will attempt a leak test almost all day as it constantly gets interrupted (working from home and weekends).

I had my valve installed before my house inlet and my lawn irrigation. I did this to track accurate usage of water use and potential leaks in the yard. This comes with the caveat of the Home Protection mode scheduling. There are not programmable seasonal schedules, so I will need to adjust the protect mode settings with the change in seasons. This functionality is not controllable via home automation (at least not yet), and will probably not affect the majority of users. I don't think I would buy a second at full cost just for irrigation.

DROP support has been amazing so far. The app and web interface are functional. Monthly usage emails for trends are a nice touch. The app supports giving view access to others. My home insurance company does not support DROP yet, but DROP has the capability.

Even with the minor usage nuances, I would not hesitate to recommend DROP products to others. I am eagerly awaiting a leak detection rope accessory for the leak detectors, and will continue to look for DROP products when needed.

Excellent product! Design and fabrication quality are better than other designs I considered. Software integration is this products strong point. primary use is water pipe integrity and monitoring water pressure.

Frost proof outdoor wall hydrant was covered by foam insulation "inside" the basement sill and wasn't able to absorb heat. Unexpected freeze caused hydrant to fracture. The protection valve sent an alert and shut off the water preventing major damage and saving us thousands. Also, water pressure variations and alerts helped diagnose a failed expansion tank on the water heater.

I have a customer that travels a lot, and liked the idea of remotely shutting her water off and her home being protected so I brought up the drop home protection valve, and instantly she wanted it! It works FLAWLESSLY.

We are away from home for long periods of time and now I don't have to worry about broken water pipes.

I have used the toilet tank tablets to keep the bowl clean evidently this created a film that allowed a slow leak. The slow leak feature showed this up.

I have had water damage from broken pipe so I know the importance of leak detection. So in building my new home in 2019-20 our water people suggested the Drop System and the installed it.

So far it has worked in shutting down the water supply when a toilet doesn’t stop running or if water is detected at the floor where a device has been placed. We have seven or eight detectors throughout the house at all the sinks toilets and laundry and also where water enters house in crawl space. So I feel we are well protected and as a further precaution we shut off the water at the meter when we will be away from home for an extended period.

Kept wondering why water kept going off at the sinks so I finally checked a toilet upstairs and stopped it from running. So the system does sense this type of constant flow. It doesn’t happen when we are showering or filling bathtub.
